eAccess Troubleshooting Guide: Terminals inside Investment Studio

A guide to provide some tips and tricks to handle the common eAccess issues encountered.

How do I login into the terminal inside Investment Studio?

When you see similar screen login screen as shown below, please click "Other user" as highlighted as #1:

 

Once you see "Other user" appear, please enter your SMU login ID in the following format:

For student, please enter your SMU email address without the email domain behind. For example, if your name is "johntan.2022@law.smu.edu.sg", just enter "smustu\johntan.2022" will do.

For Staff, please enter your SMU email address without the email domain behind. For example, if your name is "johntan@smu.edu.sg", just enter "smustf\johntan".

Terminal auto log off without warning
  1. Did you book the terminal? Someone might have booked the next timeslot.
  2. If you did not extend your current session for another hour, the system will auto logoff after 1 hour
  3. Did you leave your terminal idle for too long? If there is no activity detected for a period of time, the system will auto logoff too, for security reason. 

When users tried to access to PC Booking on library web site and what they see is the following:

When this happens, booking system is down. Users can just walk in and use any terminal freely without any restriction. Just ignore any error message that is related to booking system will do. Databases are not affected as long as users can login into Windows. Drop libsys@smu.edu.sg and email to report issue.
