Not able to export data to Excel, or Excel data is showing #N/A error

Each terminal has a monthly download limit. Once you see "#N/A review" error message in the Excel report, most likely, that terminal has reached it max limit. Please try another terminal that has not hit the max limit.

How do you check if the terminal has hit the max limit? You can use the following steps:

  1. From Windows button, look for "Bloomberg" > "API Environment Diagnostics", OR
  2. Look for "API Environment Diagnostics" icon on the Windows desktop, OR
  3. Look for "Bloomberg" folder on the Windows desktop, then double click on "API Environment Diagnostics"

Once "API Environment Diagnostics" is launched, click "Start" to begin

After the diagnostics is completed, click "Repair"

When the "Repair" is done, check the result under "Authorization". You should see green tick under "API data" as shown below. If it is showing red crosses or error message, you can confirm this terminal has hit the monthly download limit.

Not able to launch Window Start button

Please use the shortcut icons found on the desktop. This is Windows' issue, not Bloomberg.

Bloomberg Excel plug-in not available

Bloomberg Excel plug-in does not install by default and it is tied to individual account. You can trigger the installation by using the following steps:

  1. Once "API Environment Diagnostics" is launched, click "Start" to begin
  2. After the diagnostics is completed, click "Repair"
  3. When the "Repair" is done, check the result under "Bloomberg Excel Addin". You should see green tick. If it doesn't, please make sure all Microsoft products are closed. Then repeat step 4,5 and 6 again. If the red crosses are still showing, try another terminal and report the issue to libser@smu.edu.sg

Clicking onto Bloomberg icon does not launch Bloomberg at all.

Most likely, this is due to the hard disk space is almost full. Please go to File Explorer on the terminal and select "This PC". On the right hand side, "Local Disk (C:)" will be displayed. Check and make sure there is at least 10GB space left. If the space is to low or the bar is red, please try to use another Bloomberg terminal. At the same time, please drop an email to library@smu.edu.sg to keep us informed.
