eAccess Troubleshooting Guide: Eikon / Datastream

A guide to provide some tips and tricks to handle the common eAccess issues encountered.

Issues and Interventions

Password is not entered automatically

Please close Eikon application and then re-launch again.

Do not touch any button while Eikon is launching

Datastream is asking for password

Please close Eikon application first, then re-launch Eikon. Once Eikon is logged in, just launch Excel will do.

This issue usually happens when you launched Excel directly and tried to click onto "Sign In" under "Thomson Reuters" as shown below. This method doesn't work unless you have a personal Eikon account.

Under DataStream, while requesting for data from "Static Request" or "Time Series Request" for example, Excel is not able to execute any data except for showing three dots.

There are a few ways of solving this issue.

1) Quickest way is to press “Refresh Data”. It doesn’t solve the problem permanently; you get your data as soon as it can generate.

2) Alternatively, you can go to “Formulas” tab on top, then click “Calculation Options”, and then choose “Automatic”.

3) You can also select “File” tab on top, then go to “Options” as shown on the left image below. A new Excel Options window will open up. Click “Formulas” and under “Calculation options”, select “Automatic” as shown on the right image below.

4) Lastly, for long term solution, use this method is preferred. Select “File” tab on top, then go to “Options” as shown on the left image below. A new Excel Options window will open up. Click “Advanced” and under “At startup, open all files in:...”, remove the path completely. Leave it blank and click OK to exit. This should solve the issue totally.
