eAccess Troubleshooting Guide: Types of Login Method

A guide to provide some tips and tricks to handle the common eAccess issues encountered.

IP address authentication via EZproxy 

Link usually contains the following prefix: http://libproxy.smu.edu.sg/login?url=​, followed by the actual URL. As you surf, the proxied URL might or might not appear after the domain as libproxy.smu.edu.sg, depending on individual platform setting. 

 

For example: http://libproxy.smu.edu.sg/login?url=https://www.proquest.com​

or https://www-proquest-com.libproxy.smu.edu.sg/abicomplete?accountid=28662

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Once you have login into the databases, usually you can see your name appear under the Profile settings. With this kind of setup, you will be able to customize your own setting, save files, bookmarks or annotation, etc depending on what the platform offers.

 

For example, from the "Profile Settings" under "Westlaw" as shown below:

ID and password (Type I) You need to request for an account (subjected to approval) by writing to SMU Libraries or using the link provided on the library web site. Once completed, you will have your own login ID and password. Account will expire once the user is no longer active in SMU.

ID and password (Type II) You need to register for a personal account using the link provided by SMU Libraries. Once completed, you will have your own login ID and password. If SMU subscription covers mobile app, you can also download and login using mobile app. Account will expire once the user is no longer active in SMU.

On Campus access

You can only access using the terminals provided in LKS Library, Level 3, Investment Studio. Alternatively, virtual terminals are now available too but for selected databases only, such as Factset, and WIND Financial.
