ORCID

Sign up for an ORCID at https://orcid.org/register.

ORCID provides an identifier for researchers to use with their name as they engage in research and scholarship activities. It allows you to add any type of work. It is linked to a growing number of publishers, organizations (like CrossRef), funders, databases (like Scopus and Web of Science) which can do auto-population when you grant permission. It is open, mobile and community-driven.

Some advantages of having an ORCID are:

  • Be uniquely identified and no longer be mistaken for another researcher with the same last name and initials
  • Ensure that you receive credit for your work
  • Facilitate the maintenance of other researcher profiles that you already have
  • Simplify your manuscript submissions for publishers who use ORCID
