How do I use Bloomberg: Bloomberg Market Concepts

This guide helps you understand how to navigate Bloomberg

What is BMC

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is an 8-hour self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to the financial markets.

BMC consists of four modules: Economics, Currencies, Fixed Income and Equities using material from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television. There are 120 assessment questions throughout the four modules. Upon successful completion of all modules, you will obtain an e-certificate of completion from Bloomberg.

How do I register?

Bloomberg is now offering FREE access to BMC, Bloomberg’s certification program, via the web.

Where do I register?

Students without current BMC credentials can create and access from this portal: https://portal.bloombergforeducation.com/sign_up, using your SMU email address.

You can also book the Bloomberg terminals and use the time to set up an individual Bloomberg account and register for BMC course. The terminals are located at the Investment Studio on Level 3 of Li Ka Shing Library.

In both instances, a certificate of achievement will be issued to students upon successful completion of the program, just as is done with the terminal version.

How long can I take to complete?

Once you signed up, you can complete it whenever you like. Bloomberg has removed the period limit and you no longer need to complete it within one year.
