Challenge #5 Overwhelmed by test anxiety

Embrace a growth mindset:

“This is an opportunity for me to develop coping strategies and relaxation techniques to perform better under pressure. Stay calm, and remember that one exam does NOT define you.”

Adopt this two-step strategy:

  1. Address anxiety at its root
Address underlying causes of anxiety through relaxation techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness exercises, and build confidence through early, effective exam preparation and revision. Believe in yourself!
  2. Develop coping mechanisms
Implement strategies to manage stress and stay focused during exam preparation, such as studying with friends for mutual support and encouragement. Seek advice and support from MWKLSWC counsellors if needed.

Mind Your Library - Maximize your library resources:

By applying these strategies and resources, you can manage test anxiety effectively and enhance your performance during exams.

One last tip on procrastination:

Don’t wait until the last minute to consolidate your notes and review slides. Be proactive and do this weekly to clarify any doubts with your professor or peers. Building these healthy study habits will save your time during revision and reduce your stress during exam time. Less last minute revision is likely to equate to less stress on your end too!
