Check-in Feature

Checking In

The "Check-In" feature allows ISOS to physically pinpoint your physical geo-location to aid in response time in emergency situations.

Upon checking in, a blue icon shows your location on a street level.

Auto-Emergency Check-In

The "Auto-Emergency Check-in" (AEC) feature will check students in automatically, providing increased location accuracy for critical moments, while maintaining data privacy. To activate the AEC, the user must:

  1. Enable Location Services at device level
  2. Turn "One" The Auto Emergency Check-in option in the ISOS app.

Automated Crisis Communications

When there is an incident, determining who needs help can be a daunting task – ISOS can help. With Automated Crisis Communications, immediately following a critical incident, International SOS will identify who may be impacted, contact them to determine that they are safe, and update you on their status and the situation. There will be three cycles of automated reach out to travelers in an impact zone.

Mandatory Actions upon Arrival

  • Everyone in SMU, including yourself, has an important part to play in ensuring the effectiveness of this service. To do so, we will require you to provide updates by effecting a "Check-in" every 48 hours using your ISOS Assistance App during your overseas travels.
  • Do ensure that you perform the following actions upon arrival at your travel destination:
    • "Check-in" via your ISOS Assistance App upon arrival at your travel destination.
      • Should you decide to purchase a local mobile SIM card at your travel destination, do update your new mobile number with the country code via the ISOS Assistance App under:
        • Settings > My Profile > Maintain Singapore as the 'Home Country' during official overseas travels > 'Check-in' one more time
    • "Check in" whenever you are traveling from one state / country to another.
    • Update an additional travel plans over and above your intended official trip. (For example, students traveling to another country as a weekend getaway) via the ISOS Assistance App in order to receive relevant alerts based on your travel plans.
  • Ensure that the alerts & notifications are turned on for Location Based Alerts & Auto Emergency Check-in to receive alerts and for an automated check-in to be triggered if you are in the impact area during a global crisis or emergency
  • We strongly advocate for you to effect a "Check-in" via the ISOS Assistance App whenever you receive any alerts / information / news in the area that you are in.
