Sustainable Living

This research guide is designed to provide resources on Sustainability and the many aspects that it covers. In addition it suggests simple steps that anyone can take to make changes in their environment to live more sustainably.

Introduction

Sustainability, sustainable living, and sustainable research are more than just buzz words. The United Nations defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” The Singapore government has identified its vision for sustainability with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, a whole-of-nation sustainable development agenda. In alignment, SMU has also defined Sustainable Living as a key strategic priority for Vision 2025 focussing on “climate change and sustainable city living, enhancing quality of life.”
