IRIS Publications Guide: Delegate your role

IRIS, is SMU Integrated Research Information System. The Publications module in IRIS aims to have the information on the publications and research outputs of all faculty, staff and students.

Delegation introduction

You can delegate your role to another person in IRIS. After delegating your role, the person can add publications or add records in Activities on your behalf.

Note: The person you want to delegate to must have logged in to IRIS previously, otherwise you will not be able to find the person to complete the delegation.

How to delegate your role

This section explains how you can delegate your role to another IRIS user.

1. In IRIS, click on your name on the top right corner, and select 'My Settings'. 

 

2. Click on 'New delegation'. 

 

3. Enter the name of the IRIS user, and click on the blue magnifying glass icon. Click on '+' to select this user. 

 

4. Click on 'Delegate' when you see the screen below. 

 

5. You have successfully delegated your role. You can delete this delegation or add another one. 

IRIS notifications

When the Library needs the author to make changes to the publication record, you will get a notification. You can view the notification in IRIS by clicking on the Bell icon or clicking in the left-hand menu on Notifications > Notifications.

Click on the title of the message to view the message. Click on the link in the message to edit the record.

Change notification settings

By default, notifications only appear in IRIS when you are logged in.

To forward notifications to your SMU email, click on the orange down arrow, click on Settings and check the box next to Email.
