Differentiating Book & Journal Article

Book references must have place of publication and publisher and may have an edition.

Journal article references have article titles and journal titles with volume numbers, issue numbers and page numbers.

Book Reference in APA Style

Boatright, J. R. (2009). Ethics and the conduct of business (6th ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Pearson Prentice Hall.

  • Author’s surname, followed by initials
  • Year of publication
  • Title of book
  • Edition (when it is not the first edition)
  • Place of Publication
  • Publisher

Optional Activity: Search for this title in the library search.

Hint: Use the author's surname or words in the title of book or both the author's surname and words in the title

Journal Article Reference in APA Style

Wagner, T., Lutz, R., & Weitz, B. (2009). Corporate hypocrisy: Overcoming the threat of inconsistent corporate social responsibility perceptions. Journal of Marketing, 73 (6), 77-91.

  • Author’s surname, Initials
  • Year of publication
  • Title of article
