This course introduces students to the concept of innovation strategy and a method for developing an innovation strategy for an enterprise. Topics covered include external and internal environmental analyses, business-level strategies, innovation opportunity identification, criteria for selection an innovation for implementation and innovation portfolio design and implementation. This course emphasizes the application of theory to the real world innovation strategy. Students are encouraged to integrate knowledge from other business courses into a comprehensive understanding of how one can use innovation strategy development for creating competitive advantage.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
· Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of using innovation development strategy to create competitive advantage for an enterprise.
· Identify multiple innovation opportunities for an enterprise.
· Apply analytical techniques for choosing the most compelling amongst the different opportunities.
· Design an innovation portfolio design strategy for an enterprise.
