Week 9.1: Establishing a System for Assessing and Measuring the Success of Sustainable Innovation Efforts
Learning Outcome: Students know the importance of ‘traditional’ vs. sustainable innovation metrics and can explain in what ways measuring sustainability management efforts and results reporting enable organizations to communicate sustainability goals and benefits to stakeholders, including their impact across economic, environmental, and social realms.
Week 9.2: Challenges and Critiques of Sustainable Innovation Governance
Learning Outcome: Students recognise some of the unintended consequences of sustainability regulations (e.g., the negative environmental impact of hydroelectric dams) as well as signs of greenwash and respective trends in Asia. They know the importance of the board’s role in sustainability innovation, responsible communications and safeguards against pitfalls, e.g., by fostering transparency (e.g., when it comes to highlighting the environmental benefits of products / services), formulating actionable goals, responsible emissions management, progress tracking, and compiling verifiable reports.
