“It was conducting the online workshop with more than 200 participants on Zoom during orientation and answering their queries to help with their university journey.”
“It was a great experience being an LPA as it gave me a different experience. I worked with my LPA teammates to help the freshmen by guiding them on their first steps into the university. It marked a significant and fantastic journey in my university life.”

“The Libraries team never fail to equip LPAs with necessary skillsets that are required for tasks. Beyond which, constant opportunities for growth and learning are always available. I am so glad that I took up the opportunity to join LPAs and will miss my time as an LPA!”
“Before I joined, I thought it would just be doing simple tasks like helping students with any enquiries they have about the Libraries, but being an LPA is so much more than that! As an LPA, we get to help our peers as well as juniors with research databases and citations for their modules. Being an LPA has always been exciting because of the numerous ground-up initiatives. We got to take charge of the ideas we pitched that we felt could help our peers.”
“My LPA experience has been rewarding as I got to help my peers out in navigating around the plethora of tools that SMU Libraries offer. Not only that, I have also partaken in projects that aim to educate and equip the SMU student body with necessary research skills that would help in their course of study. All in all, a fulfilling journey in my university life!”
“As an LPA with the SMU Libraries, I did everything I imagined doing at university – learning (what Professors don’t teach in class) and meeting amazing people! One of the best decisions to sign up for this program.”
Some say we are the minions of the librarians, other say we are like little helper bees to the student community. We have here some reflections from our past LPA members to clear out the mystery clouds!
