Library Event Spaces

Your one-stop guide to SMU Library Facilities, offering essential info to support teaching, learning, and research, while ensuring smooth booking, logistics, and AV setups

Conditions of Use

Booking period

  • Bookings are not allowed during Blackout Periods in weeks 13 - 16 (exam period).
  • Advance notice of at least one month is required to facilitate booking of the facility.
  • Furniture may not be removed from the facility.

Food and catering

  • Food is allowed only in designated areas.
  • Food & rubbish must be cleared after the event.
  • Organisers will be charged for any additional cleaning or damage resulting from their use of the facility.

Logistics:

  • Organisers are responsible for their own logistics arrangements and equipment, as well as for the setup and reinstatement of the space.
  • Organisers are responsible for ensuring that the partition in the Hive is reopened after the event.
  • Booking time includes setup (maximum of 2 hours before the start of the event) and reinstatement.
  • Decorations, banners, signs etc may not be pasted / affixed anywhere within the Library facilities without prior approval.

AV (Audio-Visual Support):

  • Organisers are strongly encouraged to request for a quick briefing on the AV at least 3 working days before the event.
  • Organisers are responsible to liaise with IITS to coordinate technical support on the day of the event.

Note: The Library reserves the right to decline a booking.

  •   For logistics assistance such as set up and reinstatement, closing/opening the partition of the Hive and Labs contact fmlogistics@smu.edu.sg 

  •   For AV briefing:

  • Organisers are strongly encouraged to request for a quick briefing at least 3 working days before the event by contacting Francia (fbontuyan@smu.edu.sg  / 68280979).
  • Organisers are responsible to liaise with IITS to coordinate technical support on the day of the event.

   •   For issues such as air conditioning, food or drink spillage and access (card reader) the organizer may inform the Service Desk, Level 2 at LKS  Library and Level 3 at KGC Law Library or contact the OSS Helpdesk (OSSHelpdesk@smu.edu.sg / 68280438).
