What is EndNote?

EndNote is a bibliographic management software that organizes bibliographies and references when writing essays, articles and other manuscripts.

The software helps to manage and organize references, insert in-line citations and generate appropriate reference list.

Is it a free software?
No, but the library has purchased the license for all SMU faculty, staff and students.

What is the latest version that SMU has?
EndNote X4 (fourteen)

I have used an older version of EndNote before. Do I need to upgrade it?
It depends on your needs. We do, however, recommend you to upgrade it. The newer version has improved features and compatible with latest Word Processor products. You need to uninstall the previous version before you install the new version.

Is EndNote X4 compatible with my Word Processor?
EndNote X4 is compatible with Windows Microsoft Word 2003, 2007 and 2010
(update is required for Word 2010 64-bit).
EndNote X4 is compatible with Macintosh Word 2004 and 2008
(update is required for Word 2011).

Can I still use EndNote after I graduated or left SMU?
No. You will need to uninstall the software once you left SMU.
